Prescription Treatment — Clinically Supervised

Methylene blue interacts with several common medications, including SSRIs, SNRIs, and MAOIs, and is not appropriate for people with G6PD deficiency. Your provider reviews your full health profile before any prescribing decision, and treatment is prescribed only where clinically appropriate. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved.

Mitochondrial Support Protocol FAQs

It is ZuvoMed's clinician-supervised methylene blue program. Methylene blue is a compound studied for its role in cellular bioenergetics and mitochondrial function. If a licensed provider determines it is appropriate for you, you receive pharmaceutical-grade compounded capsules from a licensed U.S. compounding pharmacy in our partner network.
No. Compounded medications are prepared by licensed pharmacies for individual patients based on a prescription, and they are not FDA-approved. The FDA does not review compounded medications for safety, effectiveness, or quality. Your provider will discuss whether a compounded medication is appropriate for you.
ZuvoMed offers 15mg, 50mg, and 100mg capsules so your provider can choose the strength that fits your protocol, rather than asking you to take a large number of low-dose capsules. Your provider decides the strength and schedule.
Yes. All methylene blue prescribed through ZuvoMed is compounded by a licensed U.S. pharmacy using pharmaceutical-grade ingredients. ZuvoMed does not sell methylene blue as a dietary supplement and does not dispense industrial- or aquarium-grade material.
Methylene blue is not appropriate for people taking SSRI, SNRI, or MAOI medications because of the risk of a serious interaction called serotonin syndrome. Your intake includes a full medication review, and your provider will decide whether methylene blue is safe for you based on what you currently take.
Methylene blue is not appropriate for people with G6PD deficiency, people who are pregnant or nursing, people taking serotonergic medications such as SSRIs or SNRIs, people with significant kidney or liver impairment, or people with a known allergy to phenothiazines. Your provider screens for these during your evaluation.
Yes. Blue or blue-green urine, and sometimes stool, is a known and harmless effect of methylene blue. At higher strengths, mild and temporary blue staining of the tongue may also occur.
You pay only the clinical visit fee: $25, or $35 when your state requires a live phone or video visit. That covers your provider's evaluation, and the rest of the hold on your card is released.
Yes. Your provider can adjust your strength or schedule based on how you respond and tolerate treatment, and follow-up is included so you can report changes or side effects.
